Composition is one of the most important things in the pre photography, which is responsible for highlighting the main body, attracting the eye, and equalizing the role of the picture.

A good composition will highlight the center of the picture, make the picture more storytelling, and reflect the author's understanding of a thing and feelings.

Whether you are shooting portraits or landscapes, composition is an important consideration for the beauty of the picture, and good or bad composition directly affects the visual enjoyment of the picture.

This is why some people look good when shooting the same scene, while some people do not look very good one of the reasons.

Here are a few commonly used compositional techniques in photography.

1. Center composition

Center composition is to place the subject in the center of the picture for composition.

The biggest advantage of this composition is that the subject is prominent and clear, and the picture is easy to achieve the effect of left-right balance.

This is particularly effective for rigorous, solemn, and decorative photography.

2. Horizontal line composition

Horizontal line composition is the most basic composition method, mainly horizontal lines.

Horizontal, stretching lines can show a broad, stable, harmonious feeling, usually used in lakes, water, grasslands, and so on.

3. Three-part Composition

Three-quarter composition, also known as tic-tac-toe composition, is a kind of compositional means often used in photography, design, and other arts.

In this method, you need to divide the scene with two vertical lines and two horizontal lines, so that you can get four intersections, and place the focus of the picture in one of the four intersections.

4. Symmetrical composition

Symmetry composition that is, according to a certain axis of symmetry or center of symmetry, so that the scene in the picture forms an axis of symmetry or center symmetry.

Commonly used in shooting buildings, tunnels, and so on. If you can't make it completely symmetrical in the early stage, you can also correct it and crop it in the later stage.

5. Diagonal composition

Diagonal composition refers to the arrangement of subjects along the diagonal direction of the screen, aiming to show a sense of movement, instability, or vitality.

Different from the conventional horizontal and vertical, diagonal composition is a more expansive, fuller, and stronger visual experience for the viewer.

6. Guiding line composition

Guideline composition method, that is, the use of lines to guide the viewer's eyes, so that they converge to the focus of the picture.

In reality, roads, rivers, colors, shadows, and even the human gaze can be used as a guideline.

7. Repeat composition method

Repeated composition method, that is, when the subject is a group of the same thing, the group of subjects shot at the same time composition method.

Monotonous repetition of a unified object, occupying the entire picture and no obvious clutter of other objects, can also play a prominent effect on the subject.
