The term "dual carbon" is surely familiar to many of us, and you might wonder how achieving the "dual carbon" goals relates to our everyday lives.
Can small changes in our daily routines help us achieve these goals?
Many people recognize the importance of a low-carbon, environmentally friendly lifestyle, but their understanding is often superficial. However, household consumption significantly contributes to greenhouse gas emissions, accounting for about two-thirds of global carbon emissions.
Research institutions have calculated that in our daily lives, carbon dioxide emissions from electricity consumption are equal to the amount of electricity used multiplied by 0.785; from natural gas usage, it's the usage multiplied by 0.19; from tap water usage, it's the usage multiplied by 0.91; and from driving, it's the fuel consumption multiplied by 2.7. Many of our behaviors contribute to increasing carbon emissions, and their cumulative impact is significant.
We all play a role in achieving the "dual carbon" goals. Promoting a green, environmentally friendly lifestyle through changes in our daily habits related to clothing, food, housing, and transportation is essential.
1. Be a Pioneer of Low-carbon Living:
Start with energy conservation and emission reduction, embracing a low-carbon lifestyle step by step.
If you're considering buying a car, opt for a new energy, low-emission, fuel-efficient, and low-pollution vehicle. If you drive, try to drive less and carpool whenever possible. If driving is necessary, practice environmentally friendly and civilized driving habits and park your car orderly.
2. Be a Practitioner of Low-carbon Living:
Efforts should be made to practice the low-carbon concept and engage in green and environmentally friendly travel. Whenever possible, use public transportation, walk, or bike for daily commutes. When parked for more than five minutes, turn off your engine to reduce idling time.
Employees of government agencies, enterprises, and institutions should strengthen their awareness of low-carbon living, adhere to low-carbon environmental travel initiatives, and serve as role models for the public by choosing public transportation, biking, or walking whenever possible, thereby inspiring more people to participate in these actions.
3. Be a Promoter of Low-carbon Living:
Low-carbon living is everywhere, and green travel is within reach.
Fully understand the significance of green travel and low-carbon environmental protection, establish a low-carbon concept, practice low-carbon travel methods, and actively promote the significance of green travel to colleagues, friends, and family members. Lead by example and encourage more people to engage in green travel through practical actions, making green culture a part of everyone's life.
Short-term efforts may not be difficult, but the challenge lies in perseverance. The road ahead is long, but progress will come with persistence. By continuously enhancing awareness of conservation, environmental protection, and ecological consciousness, and by becoming practitioners of green and low-carbon lifestyles, we can contribute to making Mother Earth greener and more beautiful.
